The history of ŽOS Vrútky a.s. dates back to 1874, when railway workshops were established in Vrútky for the repair and maintenance of steam locomotives, passenger coaches and freight wagons. Railway technology has changed significantly since then, but the tradition has remained.
A significant milestone came in 1960, when the workshops completed their transition from steam locomotive repairs to the maintenance and repair of electric locomotives.
Over the following decades, the company underwent extensive modernization and established itself as one of the significant rolling stock maintenance and repair companies in Central Europe.
The 1990s brought another major transformation. Alongside repairs and modernizations, ŽOS Vrútky a.s. gradually expanded into the development and manufacture of new rolling stock.
Today, ŽOS Vrútky a.s. builds on more than 150 years of railway heritage, combining the experience of the past with modern technologies and leading global software solutions for engineering, design, development and company management.
